Eating Away
I feel like this introduction to food thing is going extremely slowly, and I know it has to be that way for certain reasons, but I'm ready to hurry it up! Her doctor said that after her 9 month visit, we'll start her on meats...mmmm! What I'm mostly worried about is the fact that I may not be done with veggies and fruits by then. I mean, I know it's two months away, but c'mon! There are a lot of things to discover between now and then and I haven't even bought any fruit.
Other than that, she seems to be doing everything else at a normal pace. She started to just figure out how to get herself into (well, at least near) a crawling position and will sometimes rock back and forth, but I think we've got just a bit more until the actual crawling (thank goodness!!!) Everything goes in her mouth, including the dog, and she is starting to bang her toys against the floor to make a most delightful noise. She loves being outside and continues to have the most sweet and wonderful nature as she smiles at mommy, daddy, and every stranger on the street!

Rugby Weekend
Uh Oh, she's already charming the boys!
Takin' a Break cuz' She needs a break!
(she really did put herself in that position...hilarious!)
Charlie getting ready to scrum down...
(He's the one with the red/white/blue socks)
Sleep? I already did that on the way home!
Sophia and I accompanied Charlie on a weekend away for a rugby tournament in St. Louis. We had a great time and it was really nice to get away for a few days! This was really our first official road trip with the baby and I'm so glad we decided to do it. I was hesitant at first because I knew we'd be outside many hours and I was nervous about what to pack for her, but it all worked out! She loved to be outside and was perfectly behaved the entire time! She slept great in both the car and her Pack-n-Play and I couldn't have asked for better weather!
My favorite part was watching all the guys come over and play with the baby! Many of the players, tall, hairy, bulky, alike; all came to coo and play with the baby. It was absolutely hilarious. They all wanted to hold her, lift her, kiss her and tickle her. She, of course, loved every second of the attention and gave them all her cutest smile!
Overall, Charlie's team won 2 and lost 2 of their games, but they put in a good fight. 4 games of rugby in two days is quite a job. There are only a couple games left for the season and then our weekends will be free to fill them as we choose! Let's hope for more nice weather so we can still get outside and be active!

Rainy Day
What's Walter playin' with, maybe I want that...
Stuck!!!We're stuck inside all day because of the dreary weather! Yesterday was nice enough that I laid out a blanket on the deck and Sophia enjoyed her toys outside while Walter ran and played too. They say it's supposed to warm up to 65 degrees and be sunny this weekend, I hope so!
Determination
Sophia is not letting go of her thumb anytime soon. During the night, she sometimes rolls this way or that and a limb falls between the rungs. On this particular night she couldn't figure out how to wrangle the arm back in (she rarely does) so she settled for looping it around the rung and back through the other side so that it could still get to her mouth.
Day 2
The mood on Day 2 was much improved! She's even almost smiling! She took to the peas slightly better this day and may even be getting used to them, just in time for green beans!I have looked into making my own purees, etc. in lieu of buying baby food, but I'm just not there yet. I figured that since this is such a slow process of introducing foods, because of possible allergic reactions, that I'm going to use the store stuff until I know what she can and can't eat. I did buy a great book on sale the other day that has lots of different options, plus Charlie downloaded some stuff from the Internet for me too. So we are looking forward to the rest of the green veggies before we move onto anything more exciting!
Good Luck With That...
I have included two videos for your pleasure below, but they are specially dedicated to Miss Lilian Deetz, who so enjoyed the original 'baby eatin' video. We hope we haven't fallen short with these little gems!
Sophia was pleasant and seemed to be relatively happy enjoying her peas. She made some funny mouth movements and squished them a bit but, sadly for daddy, she didn't figure out our ruse until he started feeding her...
You can see that her mood changed rapidly, and the gagging didn't end there! Soon after this video was shot, we went back to straight cereal, at least until tomorrow!
