More Party Time!

I have a running theme of Costco cakes in my life.
As similar to the previous 2 years, I have decorated the cake myself with edible treats like donuts, marshmallows, pretzels, etc.   I think they turn our cute.

On a side note, she is just darling and Leo loves her.
He told me the other day, Mom, I do funny things so Scarlett with laugh at me!  Oy!

Leo got this cool present throne.  He was popular during present time!

modeling one of his favorite presents!

So, I decided to go out on a limb and try a low key party for Leo this year.  Normally he gets the at-home bash with a million people, but we tried to reign it in this year.  Since he goes to school MWF, I decided to do a Thursday party at 12:30.  It worked out pretty well and a most of the kids from his class were able to make it and since Sophia gets out at 11:05, it worked out well.  It was way easier on me and it seemed everyone had a good time.  I won't be able to do these weekday parties for long, maybe not even next year as Sophia will be in school full day, but we will see.  I'm still working on getting him involved with some of his own friends and kids his own age...but he is much less interested in that than hanging out with Sophia's friends!  He doesn't quite understand when she gets invited over for playdates why he can't go too.  :(  It's kind of heartbreaking right now.  Plus, he only has 2 other boys in his preschool class, one of whom is autistic, so that is challenging as well.  I'm glad that we are still at the age where boys and girls can play together, but I will admit that he is "all boy" as they say, and although he will play Barbies or Princesses, he enjoys his rough and tumble stuff too.  I know we'll figure it out, but it's a little challenging right now.  Overall he had an excellent birthday though! :)

Leo's birthday was good times.  I can't believe my little dude is 4!  He's so big!  So, in true Hirner fashion with our crazy life right now due to the remodel...we had to have a special birthday sleepover at  Bama's house!  They were putting coats 1 and 2 on our wood floors and we couldn't walk on them, so thankfully mom was able to house us for 2 nights.  It was a bit hectic since it happened to fall on Leo's birthday and I had to be even more organized, but I made it work!  He got some super fun presents, including a Batman Batcave, and had a great day.  This year both the kids got to pick special lunch and dinner places on their birthdays since we don't really have a kitchen anyway.

Leo took donut holes to his class for his birthday, then we ate at a dinosaur themed restaurant for lunch and he picked a McD's with a play place for dinner, plus we went swimming in between.  He was one tired 4 year old by the end of the day, that's for sure!
